The Expansive Experience Trap: From Temporary States to Embodied Truth
There’s a trap that many sincere seekers fall into on the path of healing, awakening, and spiritual return: the allure of the expansive state. You taste something bigger than yourself — an open field of light, a dissolved boundary, a sudden insight that pulses with cosmic truth. It feels like coming home, like remembering something ancient and deeply real.
And for a moment, it is.
But here’s the catch: that glimpse is not the same as embodiment.
In recent years, many have entered these altered states through powerful ceremonies — particularly with plant medicine like ayahuasca — or through forced kundalini awakenings, intense breathwork, trauma openings, or prolonged meditation retreats. These experiences can act like lightning bolts through the system. They reveal what’s possible, yes.
But without the body’s readiness — they often leave residue.
The Nervous System Is the Gatekeeper
The body has its own timing. The nervous system carries the imprint of trauma, the lineage echoes, the shock held in our tissues, our fascia, our mitochondria. When expanded states arrive before the system has capacity, the result can be fragmentation, dissociation, or what many describe as a “spiritual crash.”
After a high, there’s often a fall — not because the state was false, but because the structure couldn’t hold it.
In my own journey, I’ve experienced this firsthand. I am no stranger to expanded experiences and all have been organic spontaneous except one. One powerful ayahuasca ceremony on Imbolc, timed with a deep soul intention to alchemize the distorted feminine, launched me into an archetypal realm where I faced timelines of war, resurrection, breath from the Divine Mother — the sword of truth pressed to my hand.
It was exquisite, profound AND it was too much for my nervous system capacity at that time. A that point in my journey, I had a decade of trauma work/shadow work and nervous system/somatic training under my belt
and it was STILL too much.
It left me raw. My field became permeable. I experienced psychic interference, illness, strange somatic symptoms that mimicked death. The message was clear: what I touched was real, but my body was not yet prepared to live there. It was a powerful teacher and the repair that was required has forged a path for guiding others more deeply.
To guide from a lived experience of building what is required physiologically for multidimensional embodiment.
Forced Kundalini and the Nervous System Blowout
For many, a premature kundalini activation brings temporary psychic insight, profound energetic openings — followed by tremors, fatigue, depersonalization, or neurochemical disarray. We often misinterpret these as spiritual failures. But what’s really happening is this:
The nervous system has become overwhelmed by energy it cannot yet metabolize.
That energy is not inherently bad. It’s intelligent. But it’s meant to rise in timing with the body’s capacity — not as a shortcut around the embodied human work.
Embodiment Isn’t Flashy. It’s Devotional.
Embodiment is the slow miracle of healing the nervous system. Of restoring the mitochondria. Of clearing parasites, lineage trauma, ancestral grief. It’s drinking light at sunrise, listening to fascia through Continuum Movement, allowing stored emotion to metabolize through felt sensation, learning how to come home to the body over and over again — especially when it trembles.
This kind of embodiment builds a foundation.
Then, when those expansive states arrive — as they inevitably do — the body says yes. Not just for a moment. But as a new baseline of coherence.
From Peak State to Coherent Presence
We don’t need more peaks. We need integration.
We need to build the foundation so that heaven can root itself in us — through us — into this planet.
The call now is not just to visit the divine. It is to become it, biologically.
Not by bypassing pain or chasing visions, but by becoming the kind of human who can hold truth with our cells, our blood, our breath, and our nervous system intact.
This is the path of true ascension:
not flight, but return.
Not escape, but deep landing.
